Counterfeit money was used in Burlington over the weekend
(BURLINGTON)— The Burlington Chamber of Commerce is warning area business owners that a counterfeit $100 bill was used at a large retailer over the weekend in Burlington.
In an e-mail, Chamber President and CEO Linda Fegusson says the counterfeiter had washed the ink out of a $5 bill and then printed on the real money making it undetectable with the magic pen since the paper was authentic.
The store manager suggested businesses hold any received $100 bills up to the light and look for the security thread and watermark.
